WHY READ BOOKS
So, sometimes the question of why we read crosses the mind and I'm talking about fiction books, not the educationals, articles or other types of books. This question though garners a varied and wide range of answers from people but the one thing each reader has in common is entertainment.
Books are powerful tools and a very skilled author can create a situation where the reader will exercise their senses when reading. It all starts with the sense of sight. Visuals are so powerful that when we read with our eyes, we can see the scenes playing out before our very eyes. Shocking how it actually happens and yet, no one else but we, the readers, know this because the scene takes the form of our imagination and spins the story into a real life play with the actors performing in our minds.
As we get into the story, the words become life before us and takes over our emotions, causing us to laugh out loud, chuckle deeply, smile or wince as we read on. More emotional books leads to the feeling of excitement, anticipation and even sadness and tears.
In short, books do more for us than we sometimes realise on a conscious level and the best part is the ability to transport us into magical realms both contemporary and paranormal where the impossible are possible, leaving behind reality for a short while.
If you took the time to read this, tell me, what do books do for you?
Cheers,
